Cooperator Account

Banking that
belongs to you.

The Cooperator Account is not a product we are selling you. It is the financial arm of your SACCO membership — a fully regulated cooperative banking experience owned entirely by its members, built on the Zimbabwe Co-operative Societies Act [Chapter 24:05] and equivalent African cooperative legislation.

The Banking Revolution

Every bank charges you to hold your money. Your SACCO pays you for it.

Commercial banks are owned by shareholders who extract profit from your transactions, your savings, and your credit. Co-op Pay SACCO is different — it is owned by you and every other Cooperator who has joined. Surplus generated by the SACCO is returned to members, not paid out to outside investors.

"A bank that is owned by its depositors, governed by its members, and regulated for their protection — that is not a fintech feature. That is a cooperative institution."

Co-op Pay SACCO  ·  coops.africa

A commercial bank

  • Owned by shareholders — profits leave your community
  • Fees on transactions, withdrawals, and maintenance
  • Credit decisions made by algorithms and credit bureaux
  • You have no vote on how the bank is run
  • Interest on savings is minimal — by design
  • No obligation to serve your cooperative community

Your Co-op Pay SACCO Account

  • Owned by members — surplus returns to you
  • Transparent, cooperative fee structure
  • Credit decisions made by your SACCO community
  • One member, one vote — you govern your institution
  • Savings earn competitive returns within the SACCO
  • Built specifically to serve African Cooperators

Account Features

Everything your cooperative financial life needs — in one account.

The Cooperator Account is available exclusively to registered coops.africa members who have completed KYC verification. It is not a bank account in the commercial sense — it is a SACCO member account, with rights and protections that commercial accounts cannot offer.

Mukando — Digitised & Regulated

Africa's oldest savings tradition, now inside your SACCO account.

Mukando — known across Africa as chama, susu, tontine, or stokvel — is a rotating savings group where members contribute regularly and each takes a full payout in turn. On coops.africa, this centuries-old cooperative practice is formalised, digitised, and protected within your regulated SACCO membership.

No more informal agreements. No more risk of non-payment. Every contribution and payout is recorded, enforced, and protected by cooperative by-laws and the Co-operative Societies Act.

  • Contribute to a Mukando pool with verified Cooperators
  • Receive your full Mukando payout directly to your account
  • All contributions tracked transparently on the platform
  • Disputes resolved through SACCO governance structures
  • Create or join Mukando groups within your Co-op community

Cooperative Investment

Put your savings to work in the African cooperative economy.
